Nicotine Slave

By Malcholm Dark

Lord help me, I am a nicotine slave...

I will have some regrets
I chain smoke cigarettes.

And...
stuff a big chaw
next to my jaw.

And...
pinch off a dip
into my lip.

I smoke, smoke, smoke my cigarettes
The more I smoke, the worse it gets.
When I'm bored, I stick in a chew
Then spit all about like y'all do.

Join with me and become a nicotine slave
Walk with me on a path to an early grave.

And...
become a real gem
hack-up lots of phlegm.

And...
the friends we will lack
'cause our teeth are black.

This alkaloid poison that occurs in tobacco
Can place us into retirement, dug by a backhoe.
Farmers and crops--yes it's an insecticide
Our end seems grim--call it forced suicide.

There is no need for alarm
I have the patch on my arm.

Because...
my face was erased
cut away in disgrace.

And...
most of my lungs I have given
an iron-lung, I now live in.

Lord help me, I am a nicotine slave.

Reminds me of my uncle, he loved his cigars. The air itself still seems to carry that scent, like he's still around. It could've been addiction among other things that killed him. Another fine piece my friend. Scholar
