The OK Corral

By Malcholm Dark

A long time gone in a town called Tombstone
There were pitted two warring factions.
While death set forth this disastrous tone
Violence would control their actions.
--The two stood apart in the Arizona sun
sworn enemies in a time governed by the gun.
--Resentment turns to hostility with no sense of morale
which would lead them to a day of infamy at the OK Corral!

The Earps stood for law and order, the tie that binds
Their exploits will always be told.
The Clantons stole cattle and robbed stagecoach lines
Their ways were unbridled and bold.
--They stood side by side in the Arizona sun
Wyatt, Virgil, Morgan, Doc--a day of the gun.
--They confronted the Clantons with lawful morale
within their field of destiny, the OK Corral!

It was over in seconds as gunsmoke filled the air
And three men lay bloodied and still.
The Earps and Holliday walked away without despair
The Clantons were taken to boothill!
--They lay side by side in the Arizona sun
Billy, Frank and Tom--sacrificed by the gun.
--They confronted the lawmen with foolish morale
and died making history, at the OK Corral!

Another brilliant write Dark, you can do no wrong. This reminded why I love the Old West, a kind of fascination I can't get in the modern age. A legendary moment in history as well, and this poem has become part of that, well done. Scholar

Excellent piece here MD, I'm pondering on what to say to someone who's heard it all, its like telling Michelangelo "hey nice painting"... just doesn't do him justice, You are a true poet indeed, always enjoy reading your work, bravo again my friend...
