Nickle Plated Resolve
By Malcholm Dark
"Nickle
plated resolve
So close
Within your grasp
Cold, mirrored
steel
Taste the metal
Hollow-point dreams
No more hope
Blood drenched wall
No more pain
All's well again!"
"Rough sex
Blood stained clothes
He went too far
Dead
staring eyes
Fear of reprisal
John Law knockin'
Fear of
prison
No more hope
Nickle plated resolve
All's well again!"
"Brownstone vampire
Balloons and needles
A side
of coke
Dragon fire addiction
No more family
No more friends
No more hope
Nickle plated resolve
All's well again!"
"Her first love
Her best love
Undaunted sex
Unprotected
sex
STD--a dose of death
No return phone calls
No more
hope
Nickle plated resolve
All's well again!"
"Driving drunk
Kids in the back
He crosses the line
Highway
massacre
The drunk survives
Vehicular manslaughter
No hope--no
mercy
Nickle plated resolve
All's well again!"
"She is sixteen
Parental abuse
Sexual abuse
Drug abuse
Self mutilation
One hope
Nickle plated resolve
Parricide
Memories survive!"
There comes a time in our lives when
we must
step up and intervene or sit back and make
funeral
arrangements. That time is now...

Whenever I thought of "nickel plated resolve" I pictured in my mind a gun. I'm not sure why. I suppose I was just reminded of one. I really liked how you played out different scenarios in this poem. Different scenarios for a reason for suicide in my mind. Hmm it was very interesting. Thanks for the great write :)

I was hoping someone picked up on the word, "parricide'... she murdered her own parents...

I really like title, unique.... the resolve... the word has meaning for me... to be resolute... and then there is the solution... so many nows... always facing us.... at any time. It could be the last. nice write. A call to action... to resolution... perhaps. nice lil snapshots of life's unfair despair.

Thanks, I knew what I had, but the title was incomplete... I must have use 100 words until resolve fell upon me... it was so right

This really makes you think, how many times has one said "I understand" only to find out that person is no longer there. A lot more than I'd like to believe, there's a time when mere sympathy has to take a back seat. That's what this write conveyed very well, well done Dark.

Nickle plated resolve, the tool of the trade. This was great, and that last bit, noting or saying "that's so sad" doesn't really change things. I enjoyed this one.
