The unforgivable fall
By A Life Without You
.
..
...
Paintings of dying trees
Etch the
doorways of broken homes
Telephone lines lay vacant,
only the soft red color of bricks
shine through clear windows...
.
Pictures that once graced these walls,
have somehow been
placed against the ground
in carefully shattered frames
Frames no longer capable of containing smiles,
smiles that
no longer feel the same...
.
Outside lies a waste of the
world
that once placed love on every door step,
sold happiness
in every store
Ones dreams once roamed free
now burdened
by chains,
locked and fastened behind security screen doors...
.
The last of societies Hero's slipped from societies grip
waiving white flags attached to jagged wooden sticks
...anxiously
awaiting capture,
by an obvious sinking ship...
.
An unforgettable Sunday morning song
...sung when children dream
Forsaken by a dead and dying people,
forbidden by their
new king...
.
Innocence stripped and naked,
nailed against
a burning church wall
An array of softly spoken words
only spoken by the elders as...
.
.

There is so much truth in these words. It is a very cold world, and the evil that lurks is just waiting to attack the innocent. I lock my doors at night and still don't feel safe. Blessed Be.

honestly, it was the opening line that snagged me and carried me through.. . .. paintings on dying trees.......i think, as a young [and old.ish] girl, i did this quite frequently; so many of your strophes i found haunting and homey.. .. despite the tone to this.

I really enjoyed this piece, It shows, blatantly, how much we've changed and how much we've come to fall.
