Lucky Man

By freudian-slip

If it was more of a gamble
and less of an investment...

That girl would be standing in line
with an anticipatory breath
and the ink in her pen
ready

Where do I sign? She'd ask...

The option of failure
presented less fear
but more regret-
for she'd surely
would have to tack another line upon the wall

knowing the light at the end of the tunnel
dimmed
the moment you professed your love...

She's not ready for this type of self-fulfilled rejection
knowing
the daily repetition
would have you screaming to be let off the ride...
immediately

it's terribly sad-
because you have such wonderful taste

in diamonds
