Terminal

By CorruptedLittleGirl

I’m waiting
In an over-crowded terminal
For a bus that leads to nowhere

I sit and read the paper
And look around the room
For perhaps some interesting faces

Though my eyes search with diligence
Across the boundless sea of people
Made of very different backgrounds

I see no individuals

But only a gray mass of empty heads
With vapid faces
Blank expressions
Stare back.

And though I feel so isolated
Disconnected
Higher than this massive crowd

I know that I am a part of the amorphous body
which heaves and emits noxious fumes
and stale ideas.

Clawing my way to the top
Gasping for fresh air
I am stampeded
By the crushing, wrinkled elephant foot of stagnation.

Great visual in the final line. And I can definitely empathize with the sentiment.

This is very well done. LOVE it. *fav*

i've been there, you've done a beautiful job at putting down this feeling, -symph-

I like the last image... not just for the weight of the animal chosen, which adds to the seriousness of the closure, but because I've always felt there is more to the elephant... not just mythos, but also social development... and knowing when it's dying, of course, when the death is natural. It is a wonder to feel higher and to be trampled as well. Great commentary here... vivid and full of troth.

  • A former member wrote: troth being a medieval term for truth, as in loyalty or to be true,... where betrothed originates... there is a moral truth to this, is what I meant.
