Poet of Dreams

By BethanyBallet

I think all day and I write all night
I wake up and sing
I write down things I can remember
I go back to sleep

If I could make one memory last

It would not be of the past
But of the present dreams of yesterday
and the way my mind tells me stories to help me sleep
I awaken and write them down
Half of Me is a writer
and I am the Poet of dreams

When the morning comes
I will be refreshed with a new story
to add to my list
of dreams

I will no longer wish the bad days away
I shall simply sleep them into tomorrow
I will deal with the dealt
I will think the thought
I will make the made
Because I am the Poet of Dreams

This silly little bruise will be healed tonight
When im at the altar or when im sky diving
I can go to outerspace
I will probably meet my Nana there
We're past due for another date

So I say to you
Mr. Important
I will dig your grave tonight
As you lie down cooperatively
I will just laugh and say
I am the Poet of Dreams

This is just...the quote of the century for me: "If I could make one memory last, It would not be of the past." That's just...I'm left speechless. Utterly. Embarrassingly. Speechless. Wow. Best line I've ever read. No joke.

Oh Beth, this is very good sweet girl. Keep it up and remember, that as you and I know what is behind these poems and understand that you have found a way to use your writings as your therapy, not everyone that reads them will understand that. People on this site are mostly very supportive and kind and offer up constructive criticism to help you grow as a writer, you have to be open to their comments and try to learn from them as there are some Very talented people on here. I love you dear girl! Gina

That's quite an out-look you have there. Be careful you don't miss anything when you sleep things "into tomorrow". A fun read. Welcome to darkpoetry.
