he was smiling

then he was gone

next night,

my daughter
once again
chasing her around the room
under the bed
and it's sand

she's nowhere to be found

two days later,

my mother
making fun of me
laughing
my heart sinking
turn around

she's mimicking me


since then,

it's been a week
phone call
wide awake
can't sleep

my mom's dying
