The Apple
By Sticky Kitty
My heart trembled
as shaky as my hands
the moment I held out the fragments
of this broken existance
as an offering
a compensation for my sickness
pleading you to trail those teeth
among my memories
and rebuild
what was never there
The insomnia
came back the day
you did
Chipping ice
off this vunerable block
staring up at you
with worshiping eyes
begging
notice the willingness
to carry a rebellion
like a nourishing symptom
of a genetic plague
I wish I caught you staring
from a centimeter away
the way I saw Jesus
gazing
at my guardian angel
as if he had forgotten
what beauty he could create
with only his fingertips
and an urge
what love he could find
in dysfunction
and destruction
