By Way Of The Poet

By Malcholm Dark

Read the words
Breathe me in...

Written by pen and ink upon paper
Manipulated--scattered etchings.
Black blood beneath the moon-light
Upon a white virgin--winter's snow.
A vividness soiled into your memory
By a hand that bares the voice.
The voice of my very soul
A burning void smitten by embers.
A crematory that burns thru the perpetual darkness
Igniting the fiery emotion within the written verse.
All conceived by the mind of a poet
The manipulator of the soul.
A place wrenched and twisted--perverse
Where the glow of goodness lay shackled.
For I am always with you
No matter where you hide.
When at midnight as you walk alone
Hairs stand on the back of your neck.
When you think someone is in the dark
Watching--breathing--tasting you.
I strike and dismantle you within your fears
Until you reach the safety of your home.
Wild-beating heart--short-gasping breaths
Yet you turn to your source of literature.
There you find me waiting for you
And yet again, we dance!

Read the words
Breathe me in.

I agree with Sinfire the journey was very much enjoyable. The visuals created gave me a clear and exciting picture of the landscape. Well written :)

  • A former member wrote: That was an astounding piece, I liked the adventure it took me on, leaping from the paper and transcending into a "reality" very nice kept me reading.
