Surrounded By Sorrow
By Midnight Phoenix
Watch as the children fill the room
Mouths filled with venom and smiles
Their salutations met with hidden sarcasm
Don't look this way, I haven't laughed in a while
Their conversations only ridicule others
I stay hidden in a shadowy corner
Speak not to me, I'm watching others flood in
A gentle voice calls to me, no one warned her
A crippled tongue and sad eyes answer
Like an open wound, I mend my words
The voice brings comfort, so I hide
Until the children surround me again

you are gifted with a lens to the world that allows you to capture moments in time from an artisitic, mature perspective. simple words that collectively like brush strokes create an impressionist landscape.

this was a very clear visual. the "crippled tongue... eyes answer" was the best part of the piece. well done.
