The Dead Above Ground
By Stormcomin
We walk among
The dead above ground
Embracing this kinship of sorrow
A suffering shared
Of hearts left impaired
And entombed, in the hate of tomorrow
We weep upon
This void of our souls
Erasing what anguish devours
With empathy blind
Our own hearts confined
And consumed, by the hatred of hours
We would give our eyes–to soften the cries
We would give our life–to bury the strife
We would give our breath–to vanquish the death
That we live,
That we dream,
That we bleed
But together we’re bound,
An assemblage renowned
As the dead above ground, decreed

Excellent to see a new post from you; your command of rhythm and metre always magnificent - this pulses and draws the reader in marvellously. Great write. I love the middle stanza in particular.

Are we all dead? Numbed to the point of pointless animation? I really enjoy your description and illustration of your images. Well done!
