Time
By rondant
Love can't turn back the hands of time.
Or take us back to days gone by.
Love can't return a trust when gone.
It can't undo a right that has been wronged.
Time, they say, can heal all wounds.
But I know that it can't heal mine.
I slowly turn and walk away.
I'll take with me, my love for you.
And I'll bury it with time.
But until then I'll wrap your love around my heart.
And whisper your name to all the stars.

That last line is the saddest. The narrator still holds on to the love she felt, even as she wills for it to be erased by time. This hits home for me because it reminds me of the terrible outcome that I once had a glimpse of. Good work!

I don't write like this, but there are certain people on DP I choose to write tributes to, & they are similar to this, so you may have seen them. I'll post this as a favorite. ~Shane~
