Unrequited Love
By Savannah
Her pain would kill a normal soul,
Her tears, a constant stream.
She continues ever faithfully,
To build upon her dreams.
He catches her blown kisses,
But throws them to the wind.
Still, her supply for him is endless,
She must always try again.
Always waiting, in depression,
For the phone to finally ring.
To hear his voice, to hear his breath,
She'd do most anything.
His wall's too thick to crumble,
And to climb, it's far too tall.
Forgotten and alone outside,
She pleads for it to fall.
With love's last call unanswered,
Her heart could wait no more.
She left the wall behind her,
Stepping through life's open door.
Someday soon, his wall will crack,
And the stones will finally land.
But after all the dust has cleared,
There's only footprints in the sand.
Forgotten and alone, he'll cry,
Then hit his knees to pray,
For one remaining, wind-blown kiss,
He chose to throw away.
Now waiting, in depression,
For the phone to finally ring.
To hear her voice, to hear her breath,
He'd do most anything.
This is dedicated to my dear friend, Kathi. Life is too short to wait behind
a wall. Take my hand, and step into the sunlight.
