desire

By stuart_pid

A slave to the world
and a slave to yourself.
Searching for happiness.
Searching for wealth.
Searching unsatisfied,
driven by lust.
Endlessly searching
for more than enough.
Searching uncertain
the life that you want,
but pursuing with avarice
the things you have not.
It's pushing and pulling you.
Violently holding you.
Making you,
breaking you,
taking control of you.
Calling you softly
from somewhere inside,
where greed and desire
is all you will find.
It only gets stronger
the more you give in,
until all other senses
wear leeringly thin.
When the you that you knew
becomes drastically changed
and desire for freedom
is all that remains.
