My Own Race

By Midnight Phoenix

A late night of lost causes
This burden on edge
Wishful thinking got me this far
But now I’m stretched out too thin

I’ve fallen short on feelings
And overdrawn my thoughts
My own elastic tendencies
Are all that I have got

Now I’m losing it all
A master soon of none
Unprepared for starting over
Just to make this drama done

Denied of inspiration
Rejected from this place
Less than a whisper inside a whisper
I’m losing my own race

Thoughtful and intriging....I read it twice just so I could savor its true meaning....fell together amazingly.."Denied of inspiration"...not possible for such a poet like you.

This flowed beautifully and each word was touching in its own way...Reminded me of a song for some reason :)
