Woe of a Shadow

By sole

The pendulum swings
Mirroring in my eyes
Taking my pupil for a ride.
As sure as breath itself,
As constant as the tide.

Testament to age,
Wrapping rings around trees.
Revealing a wrinkled crease.
To and fro to and fro
As we grow.

Immunity desist,
Even rocks can not resist
To cast a shadow on the ground.
Powerless yet profound,
Watching it churn around
And chip away
As the years pile on.
An infinite reserve
Of days and days gone.
With each pass it makes
Another dawn,
And another day
As we decay.

Organic maturity
Reflecting mortality,
Breathe in to exist
And breathe out with doubt.
I am a constant in my right.
I am kept in rhythm.
I am a sundial with a story.
I am the clock.
I am a watch with a worry.
I am a countdown.
I am the second hand
To the pendulum in my eyes.
I am that time cut short.
I am that woeful fellow.
I am my shadow's retort.
