Between The Spirit And The Clay

By Silver Spectre

Through these eyes I see nothing but in a touch I have the stars
The shinning of a new day’s dawn at the foot of this spring garden
The places men think of and most keep secret if they have not forgotten

Into the spaces that lie between the spirit and the clay would be my place
If only I were to not fall asleep too soon and get lost in the dream of what could be

Through these eyes I see nothing but in a scent of air I am whisked away to a distant memory
Where the childhood dreams of what a boy could be are still fresh
And the promises of a mothers smile are the seals of a fortunate life

Into the spaces that lie between the spirit and the clay would be my place
If only I were to not fall asleep too soon and get lost in the dream of what could be

Through these eyes I see nothing but in my ears I hear the sweet music of angels
Singing my name so I know they are near in these canyons at the edge of darkness
Who also sings to me with the rhythms of her mystery in the forest of delight

Into these spaces that lie between the spirit and the clay would be my place
If only I were to not fall asleep too soon and get lost in the dream of what could be

Through these eyes I see nothing but in my heart I feel everything
In the softness of the place where that which one holds true is planted
With the seeds of what reaches in and tills the firmament that is my soul
In this mix of dreams and illusions that is the leaping of my heart and knows no bounds

Into the spaces that lie between the spirit and the clay would be my place
If only I were to not fall asleep too soon and get lost in the dream of what could be
