The Nameless One

By Sorrowful Jester

I was sick
He was sick
We thought that we had found the cure
Then, suddenly, out of the blue...
We both were gone
Which one went where?
I still cannot tell
One lost his life in an ambulance
One lost his life inside his head
We both will live forever
One in our memories
As the smiling child with the gray white hair
One in a Hell like place
A place where apathy and misery rule
Which one goes where?
I still cannot tell
One of us left smiling
One of us left crying
Which one was it?
I still cannot tell
One of us said "at last I'm free"
One of us said "I will be freed"
Which one said what?
I still cannot tell
Goodbye my Nameless Friend
Maybe it should have been I
I still am unsure
Should thank you?
Should I feel angry at you?
Secretly... you rang the bell
When he came with gifts
I did not realize playtime was long over
And he quitlly had began teaching
He taught us who we were
You taught us many things
And still waiting for recess
You rushed and rang the bell
But it was his to ring
It seems that you were listening
This time you rang it firmly
I still can hear it ringing
This is how you left
Taking probably my turn
Not letting me return the favor
You began to run
I tried to follow
But I you didn't want a gift
It was the weirdest thing you ever did
As if you'd taken a look at the color of your hair
You hid and decided to stay there
P.S. Goodbye my Nameless Friend. Thank you! Whatever I do I keep seeing, or hearing your name. The bell still rings in my ears. We thought you were naive, but it seems you were the only one paying attention. You gave your life to teach us life! THANK YOU ;(

The memories we cherish the most are the ones we cannot explain. the intriguing part of this is I still wonder who's who and who did pass in the ambulance and rang the bell wonderful will come back to this one.

Thank you. I also as am a strong believer of what you've said. As for the answer to your question... I don't know... is it rhetorical? :)

The back and forth imagery really worked well here. This left me wondering if it was a real person or a schizophrenic play pal, and the way you formatted this makes me wonder if that was the point. The flow kept me going from line to line with curiosity. Nicely done, write on! :)
