The Broken Man

By RedWolf

The pieces of a man our tale does tell
Of shadows that lie where light should dwell
Eclipsing a love that once did shine
Trapped in a web where strands entwine

Drifting along on a dull path of pain
Protecting a heart that’s all but been slain
Embracing the darkness deep in your mind
Enslaved to the suffering, the truth confined

Broken, the shards of promises not kept
Blinded by the tears your eyes have wept
Abandoned and alone, struggling to fight
Braving the currents with no freedom of flight

But wait dear one, your story’s not done
Not whilst the hands of the clock continue to run
Where one chapter ends, another will begin
Pick up your brush, paint the light from within

In this realm of long forgotten hope floats a seemingly empty boat-- filled with the lost dreams of those that gave up a little too soon. Jump aboard and perhaps we we can find a way out of this never ending daily grind. Great write :) I enjoyed the imagery!
