May They Be Sheep
By DeificLightning
Little sheep all following along,
Never pausing to question a thought.
All dressed in white,
Not a thing out of line.
May they never dare to be different.
To not be like the rest.
May they always be mindless conformists.
Blankly agreeing with the flock,
Never having a mind or thought of their own.
Cruelly, ignorantly sneering at those,
Who dare to be different.
To be something,
To mean something.
Dare to be a non-conformist,
Least you follow the rest.
Through a meaningless life,
Only to find yourself led to slaughter.

Well said! Not part of the flock myself and continually both irrated and exasperated by the sheep around me.

This ink was written because of my irritation and exasperation towards said flock. Thanks for reading!

People are all the same sometimes. Not only that, they say the same things over and over. It drives me nuts too, now that you mention it. I can definitely relate.

Indeed. And sometimes when they repeat the same thing once again and a rational argument is shown to go against it, they obstinately ignore its points with stubbornness and they keep the cycle of repeating going without a shread of evidence to back it up. One of my biggest pet peeves actually. Thanks for reading.

May they keep their place in that flock, but sadly, they won't as their horns begin to grow, and head-butting becomes the favorite past time. Shades of "Animal Farm" re-visited. Cheers DL and welcome to DP! - Dan

Nice quote and thank you. I rather like it here actually, in this lovely, veil of darkness, words, and poetry.

Indeed, the system is to fault; but the blame does not rely solely on it. It’s also up to people themselves to question what is. And thank you.
