Map Made of Tears

By Sorrowful Jester

I can see it again
I can see the map that they drew on your pretty face
How shameful to ruin silk smooth skin this way
There is not much time
I have to find the way to you
Before the map fades away
Before the path dries out
Before you are forever lost
The closer I get, the more I weep
Why would they want to draw a map to such a sorrowful place?
Trees have no leaves
Forests are almost lifeless
Rivers run red
Birds are mute
Oceans only have sand
Who created all of this?
A few steps closer to you
I see people crying
I see people leaving
I see love being rejected
A machine that turns love into hatred
Why would anyone reject love?
Who could be cruel enough to have built such a device?
Could it be that someone did it for the good of the others?
A few steps closer to you
I see love
Love caged like a bird
A beautiful bird that people prefer caged, so that they don't feel threatened by its beauty, or by its freedom
Blinding the beauty of love
Destructive the freedom to love
A few steps closer to you
I see pure sorrow
Sorrow hidden behind a pretty smile
Everyone thought you were happy, until you broke
Map drawn with invisible ink
Invisible like your inner thoughts
Happy smile that used to make people smile
Now, your pretty smile is gone
I wish my touch could soothe your pain
I wish my love could release you from your cage
I wish my screams could wake you up from your nightmare
A few steps closer to you
I see happiness
The map is no more
Maybe I am the only one that was supposed to be by your side
Maybe you are the one who let me get this close to you
Maybe you are the cartographer that drew this map
Too bad you aren't here anymore
Too bad I'm trapped here all alone
Too bad I decided to follow your map this late

This is breathtaking! Every piece of this had me longing for what was to come. I know this pain, all to well, and felt it all over again while reading. I love your poetic mind as you write beautifully. Bows- Scholar

"I know this pain, all to well..." That tattoo of yours (the one with the caged heart) reinforces your words; had I seen it earlier, I would have considered myself a plagiarist (for not giving you credit for inspiring me), because it is the image I had in my mind when I was writing.

There is a quote underneath my caged heart from NIN- "There is no love here and there is no pain." From the song- everyday is Exactly The Same. You're an awesome writer and I ask that you never give it up. It's my only request... For now. : ) Scholar

Are you TattooGoddess? I'm glad you're back if this is you. I'm glad you enjoyed reading it. It's why I write, if people weren't enjoying reading my work, I'd keep them where I keep most of most my work, my e-journal.

If you look straight into the eyes of someone that is too scared to leave his/her fortress of sorrow, you are destined to be left behind: condemned to be to chasing a dream that will never materialize.
