we all get one life (what are you going to do with it?)

By anathema

whine whine whine

go ahead and do it
complain about how hard it is
to live here and now
find so many
insubstantial things
to bitch about
when you still have someone else
putting food on your table
clothes on your back
and a roof
over your head

i'm tired of you
taking for granted
not just the material things
but everything
that flows around you

if you can't hear
sweet music
humming through the air
singing
buzzing
trilling
then
go ahead
cover your ears

if you refuse
to taste refreshment
within the fruit of the earth
licking
savoring
flavoring
then
go ahead
be bland

if you don't see
the beauty
all around you
growing
expanding
glowing
then
go ahead
close your eyes

if you won't feel
pleasure
caressing your soul
stroking
brightening
dreaming
then
go ahead
cocoon yourself

if you can't speak
of exquisiteness
coloring the sky
stretching
staining
shining
then
go ahead
shut your mouth

if you
don't have
within you
breathing
beating
pulsating
the desire to survive
then
go ahead

stop doing so

I don't know about this poem I think it might have 2 sides to it...maybe it is just me...

it's basically an expression of... "look at everything you have, consider how lucky you are, yeah, life sucks, sometimes we have to really USE that will to survive. and if you don't want to, well, stop breathing my air".

i get frustrated with the 14 year olds and their "i wanna die" chants. there's so much to life... and seriously, people who really don't feel inclined to realize that... let 'em go. but that's just a BITTER kitty. :)

Thanks for a reminder of the meaning in the small things... it's kind of strange that this poem would cheer me up (from my own self-absorbed depression) but welcome nonetheless. Good job.

there is humility within your words; having "this" creates gratitude, towards all things.....you have spoken well here, in a way that truly impresses me...your view is clear..
