Suffocation Blues

By andhaka

Embraced by shadows in a barren room
Just like the cold carcass in a soiled tomb
Soft fingers fumble with rugged blade
With every cut I wish to fade

The cordial metal rests upon bleak flesh
And as I dig it deep, I wince but not thresh
From the skin gnawed wide by masochistic tool
Searing scarlet begins to pool

With every droplet that trickles down the wrist
The miserable soul entwines with mist
And I softly float above oppressive pain
As the blood from my body begins to drain

Trembling hands slice some more
Reveling in masochistic gore
Drowned in ecstasy and feeling free
That’s when I saw the eyes staring back at me

Engorged in the depths of every wound
Gazing from the skin I had marooned
They try to speak but I wish not hear
So I look away and cover my ear

But the silence shrieks louder than words
Like the mourning cry of demonic birds
And though I cover the gnashes I feel their tears
The agony that had built up over years

Unable to look away from ebony stares
I watch their gazes turn to accusing glares
Quivering fingers claw them out from fleshy trench
Desperation in the painful clench

With grimy nails I skin my own arm
But the eyes remain unharmed
With the blade I try to carve them out
They stare back with a look of flout

Haunting abyssal beady eyes
In the silence I hear their cries
They demand for answers I cannot give
And for the pain I caused they do not forgive

Exasperated, aggravated, agitated
Bloodied arms slammed on the window, frustrated
Again and again till the blood splatters
Harder and harder till the glass shatters

With a shiver of relief my hands find a shard
I desperately ram it into my heart
And when the world around begins to fade
I spy the small bloodied blade

It started off as an excuse to feel
Self inflicting torturous appeal
But it turned to something sinister and cruel
The game I started played me like a fool

What I thought a choice, became a need
And to escape the suffering I had to bleed
So now tell me what path you choose
After hearing these suffocation blues

Wounds with eyes, a marvelous visual that still haunts me. Good build-up towards the inevitable perhaps and very well done, cheers Andy!
