Black

By TornPieces

Whats your favorite color, they ask
The little girl, pigtails down her back

Perfectly done, not a stray hair out of place
parents must care, they think ..ribbons, lace....

She turns around, and knows its a stranger
They don't see, she's already known danger

Danger is a friend that doesn't lie
Like the laces or the shiny tie

Her daddy wears to work and her school
When he visits her to find out , hes fooled
The teacher into thinking
His little girl,
isn't sinking

My favorite is black
becuase it doesnt lie
Black is black
it is not green
It sees me cry

It is like me, needed not wanted
like my daddy who gave and rotted

Like my mother, who tied the bows
To make me appear, but hide the blows

Behind the black I hide my tears

now I'm older

Mascara filled eyes, you see no fears
I'm a doll
dressed up and cute
Black and pink

Dying and mute.

nice poem a little darkness with just the right touch. and black is a very beautiful color to crawl into. black makes me feel im mourning everyday because I am, im mourning the loss of myself years ago. and ive never been happier to be on display as a beacon for the lost. awesome!

I feel bad saying how much I enjoyed this, which is exactly how I judge a piece as being truly amazing, it made me feel as though the words themselves were Blackness, instead of white in a black background. How you used a single work, a color to draw out a terrifying descend into tragedy, well done. Only a broken betrayed child can know that sort of misery, and only when they grow up do they realize it. Thanks for posting. Scholar

Welcome to DP, you'll fit right in! Wondering where the color green came from, maybe your favorite? A sorrowful and all to common tale, cheers!
