Pen.
By Dei
You laid beneath me staring blankly and ghost pale
but I knew all you needed was to be filled. So
I covered your skin with simile and metaphors and
the pretty words clung to your aching shoulders
like an oversized leather jacket with an ancient satin lining
Worn and smelling of your father and menthol cigarettes.
I gave you everything. All of me. Hoping you would never feel empty
Letting you soak me up and in till you could bear me no longer
And without your emptiness I'm useless.
And I feel like there's a little less beauty in me now
but I'll move on anyway, and turn to the next page
Perhaps this one will run me dry before the break down.
