Taste

By Phantasmagoria

I bit into....

A rotten apple.

And tasted its moldy core...

The skin, so cleverly flawless

There was no telling what was inside.

I sit here....

And forever wonder...

When did this apple go bad?

...an apple or a guy, you never know what's inside...when you find out , it still might be puzzling...

Haunted has a very apt comment. If this was really inspired by an actual event then I'd guess it had been treated with ethylene dibromide to prolong the shelf life, common trick in the grocery stores lately, cheers!

unfortunately you have to bite into the beautiful exterior to really get whats on the inside. and sometimes you never know what you'll get. if you ever find a worm, be gentle. they have feelings to! metaphorically of course! excellent poem!
