Xmas Music

By cadymae

The shrill shriek of the dying fruit rat signals my cat's kill
While the songs of my neighbor's xmas cheer spills
across our lawns

They bought an inflatable carousel that lights and spins and sings

O!

Liked it so much they bought a smaller one and hung it in my invasive species tree.

"You must dig that up by its roots ma'am."

Silent

She trots in, head high, to keep from tripping on the rat tail

Growling and insisting on replaying the capture and death throes of her eternal prey for me

Night.

Terrific invasive species mid stanza. A weed is a plant growing in the wrong place - much the same. Let them dig it up and plant a replacement. Morons in South Florida cut down all the beautiful Australian Pine trees - same mentality, but probably somebody got paid a big federal grant to do the unwanted and unnecessary demolition. Still pissed! Oh, and thanks for this offering.
