The Death of Happiness

By Salum

A work inspired by They Have Departed

My childhood was oh so fine,
Simple and yet somehow, divine.

But one day someone I held dear,
Had become consumed in fear.

She was dying you see,
And it greatly troubled me.

I was young when I first met the reaper,
But it was not I that was the keeper.

My grandmother soon passed away.
And my happiness died that day.
