The Watcher
By Ashes the Emo Fae
The watcher stays silent
Keeps its distances
Does as its name
suggests:
Watches the people as their lives pass by
When their
paths cross for that brief moment
And then returns to the natural
course
However, the watcher was weary
This job was thankless
and tiring for it
It longed for attatchment, company
It found
what it thought was such
But was proven wrong
And left to scatter
to the original position
Back to watching the mortal world
Let
them experience the pain and heartache
It will just observe and remember
Again, the silent being grows tired
Tired of the routine of
loneliness
However, it grows hesitant to try again
Prefers the
tiresome routine to pain
So change will be difficult
Habits will
stick
Making the watcher stay on the fringes of life
Watching
as events pass by
Perhaps its latest encounters will understand?
Maybe they could help, help break the habit?
Show it that there
is nothing to fear about interactions
Face to face
Instead of
hiding outside the circle
There is always the chance though
Pain will strike again
The habits will set in deeper
Harder
to break once it flees into the shadows
Hiding from human interactions
again
It can only wonder and curiously wait
And watch as it has
always done.

"Better to have love and lost, than never loved at all" - Shakespeare I think but appropriate here. We all feel this way when we are younger, until something comes along. Well done.
