A Working Mans Horse

By Malcholm Dark

I'm a working mans horse, of course
Born to labor without remorse.
See my strengths; I run, pack and tow
Born to labor, just watch me go.

Thrust your heels in my sides all day
Holler out and say...
"yippie-yi-ki-yay,
yippie-yi-ki-yay!"

When I become too old and gray
It's okay, just send me away.
To the big soap-works factory
Or to the big dog food cannery.

But until that god-awful day
Ride me hard and say...
"yippie-yi-ki-yay,
yippie-yi-ki-yay!"
.
.
.
Please don't stuff and display me
Like Roy did to old Trigger.
.
.
.
Damn you, Roy Rogers!!!

Author's Note:

I loved all those old westerns because the horses had names and were part of the movie... now days they are no more than props and background...

Haha yeah, damn you Roy Rogers. A cowboy is only as great as his horse, unfortunately the horse is usually the second banana. Write onward my friend. Hi-ho silver away! *Gallops off into the sunset." Scholar
