Impasse

By Miztaken4beauty

You saw, you conquered, you came.
Another night ends the same.
A good night kiss, skin meets skin,
I wake up engulfed in you again.
Eyes locked with dark emotion,
Like the surface of the ocean.
Inside you're churning and burning,
But all these warnings concerning-
ridiculous.
Don't look at me like you're afraid.
The time has come, my debts are paid.
I'd change the past if I could,
But it wouldn't do me any good.
Neither can leave, neither can stay,
And if either does the other will pay.
So for now I'll stay by your side.
But love will never outlast my pride.
