Lost

By Malcholm Dark

She sleeps before me without a sound
I lay my head gently upon her chest
I close my eyes and listen
I see the life that was us.

An excitement, a high fevered pitch
A wonderment, a lifetime with you
Enlightenment, the nectar within
A commitment, the center of life.

Lost in laughs of happiness
Lost in tears of tenderness
Lost in ways of the heart
Lost in ways of your soul.

Then suddenly...
Brutalized by an unknown stranger
Unable to handle pain and sorrow
Just one night, a sliver in time
All taken from her, nothing left.

I stood on the outside looking in
I stood in the wake of banishment
I stood upon emptiness
I stood this broken man.

No more love
No more hope
No more life
No more, we.

I sit up, you are as before me
Cold and silent, no more pain...
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Death by suicide.

She sleeps before me without a sound
One final kiss, now I sadly move on.

Brutal.... and timeless it seems. I'm glad this popped on the featured - very well written and structured.
