Our Comforting Lies
By Malcholm Dark
and
here they come again...
Hard, cold facts we cannot hear
The doctor says the end is near.
Her way of life shall disappear
Prescription drugs mask the fear.
Her family and friends
around
Their sullen looks so profound.
Awaiting death on holy
ground
The lies so comforting abound.
Her time to
go has come and gone
This being altered--a holy spawn.
She swims
the lake now as a swan
Swimming toward that purple dawn.
Swimming
and singing all day long
She now takes comfort in her song.
Hide a truth, ease a pain
let's now improvise.
And here
they come again
our comforting lies.
Forever and
ever the guise
We stand up delivering lies.
The things we do
seem inane
To cover or lessen the pain.
We do this
in the name of love.

A very tragic write Dark, oh the lies we tell to those we care about, every line was simply amazing, "She now takes comfort in her song" that one hit hard, well done my friend.

Is it all a big nothing? Wow, the tragic hopelessness and the weighted sadness of this one really hit me in the gut. Thanks, Malcholm, I was running out of reasons to continue to assert that from nothing we began, and into nothing we become. Awesome.--Draven.
