Until Then

By soldier

I miss you
I don't know why but I do

I've been thinking of you lately
maybe it was because I passed by your house
and wondered if you still lived there
maybe it was because I passed that park
the one with the swing set we carved out names into
maybe it was because I saw one of my friends
from a sideways glance and thought it was you

I don't know why
you have been dancing on my mind

I know I said I would never miss you
but now I do
I picked up one of my photos of you
the one where you were sitting on the curb
like you were innocent
I ran across an old letter
telling me how something reminded you of me
now every thing reminds me of you
and I don't know why

I've got much better things to do
I've got better friends now
but I miss our old posse
I miss that time at your party
you weren't with me then
but the way you looked
you were beautiful
I remember how we always used to talk on the phone
hours with out end

what happened to that
I miss that
I miss all the cute little things you did
I wonder if you think of me
I wonder if this has ever crossed your mind
what happened to us
to our friendship
to everything
I want to go back
four years
just to be beside you

I wish I took more advantage of our friendship
I would've went to your house more often
I would've stayed on the phone with you just a little bit longer
I wouldn't have worried about other things soo much
I should have got a picture of us together
I wonder if anything I could have done would have preserved us
I would have done it

even though I wouldn't change how good my life is now
I wouldn't give up the people I love now
but I would like to have you here with me
with all my new friends
with all my old ones
every single one

I am going to hang out with my older friends more
I won't lose them like I lost you
you were precious
like a diamond earring
that's easily lost

maybe I walk by your house tomorrow
maybe I'll talk to one of our old friends that still has contact with you
maybe one day I'll get you back
maybe one day it will be like the old days
maybe one day I won't have to miss you
maybe

but until then I'll just keep on missing you
just keep on wishing
wondering
dreaming
and I'll play that song that reminds me of you more often
just so I don't lose your memory
like I lost your love
your friendship
your company
oh your company

maybe I should call you
no
it's been to long
and you probably don't even remember me
I just pray you do

its just soo hard
thinking
remembering
but never forgetting
maybe someday
it'll be like it was
but until then

but until then

I can relate. I think a lot of people can.

This looks as if spread out on a cookie cutter sheet of a song waiting to be baked..just eat the outcome..not a bad write.
