Land Of Ra
By Malcholm Dark
The murder of Ramesses saw the
rule of a high priest
Then for the next 83 years only his evil would
feast.
Prayers to a god for secrets of life after death
When
a shadow befell him to the last dying breath.
A shadow so black
that nothing could be worse
So his body was hidden and with it
the curse!
I was a young man when I happened upon the scroll
I would have destroyed it had I knew of its' toll.
So with one
hundred men and only my reputation in mind
To Egypt we went and
the greatest archaeological find.
The desert air brings one peace,
so the natives say
Though my soul drowns in torment to this very
day.
--Escape from the terror which turns the sand red
and
escape from a curse by the god of the dead.
--You would surely
have run, had you seen what I saw
he is three thousand yrs. old
and stalks the land of Ra.
We cleared away time and
with it the sand
Unearthed a tomb beneath this desert land.
A tomb not yet opened under an Egyptian bliss
The tomb of a high
priest and his god, Osiris.
These words were inscribed upon the
stone door
"Let they that enter be cursed... evermore!"
We
found the stone coffin, it laid alone inside
With an odor of decay
as though someone had died.
We found no other objects, no silver
or gold
Only the mummy himself, so ancient and cold.
A feeling
of dread from hieroglyphics on the wall
Assuring death to the intruders,
death to us all!
--Escape from the terror which turns the sand
red
and escape from a curse by the god of the dead.
--You would
surely have run, had you seen what I saw
he is three thousand
yrs. old and stalks the land of Ra.
The cool desert
valley and the flow of the Nile
A tomb in this desert, I didn't
mean to defile.
The mummy is Osiris' tool of revenge
Run away
and hide, hide away and cringe!
The top of the stone case was
shattered from within
Then death rose with the moon like the ultimate
sin.
A wind's baneful howl blew sand through the night
With
the wind came the monster, a horrid sight.
We slept unaware, where
he seized us at will
The carnage then started, kill monster, kill!
With his vengeance unleashed the death count did tally
My men
were all slaughtered in the king's sacred valley.
--Escape from
the terror which turns the sand red
and escape from a curse by the
god of the dead.
--You would surely have run, had you seen what
I saw
he is three thousand yrs. old and stalks the land of Ra.
He pursued me through the night and back to his tomb
Exhausted and frightened, I was trapped in that room.
Wrapped
up in rags, black chasms were his eyes
My soul was at hand with
my life's demise.
He pushed down a column, it tumbled to the floor
He pushed down the rest and they all fell, as before.
The tomb
shook and rumbled, the walls crumbled down
We were crushed in the
deluge as death hissed 'round.
Pulled alive from the debris, but
my legs were lost
And since I had to pay something, they were the
cost.
Now I'm living alone and constantly in fear
Trapped
in a wheelchair with Osiris ever near!
--I escaped from the terror
which turned the sand red
but couldn't escape the curse by the
god of the dead.
--You would surely have run, had you seen what I
saw
I am forever trapped within my memories...
of the land of Ra.

Incredible write, I do enjoy Egyptian stories, gotta love the mummy's curse, I like how you say "you would have surely run" but then the archaeologist ends up in a wheelchair, oh the irony, another victim of the curse, very well done, thanks.
