Tears In The Dark

By Malcholm Dark

He cried out for justice, but was not heard
He cried out for freedom, which was absurd.
He cried once to often, his enemies became incensed
He then cried out for mercy and was forever silenced!
--Like clouds in the sky, we see but don't hear
so we turn from the ones that cry out in fear.
--If our souls become empty and we let hatred embark
mankind fades from existence, like tears in the dark.

She cried out to her mother and then to her father
She cried out for love though neither would bother.
She cried once too often, her soul drowned in strife
She then cried out for silence and took her own life!
--Like clouds in the sky, we see but don't hear
so we turn from the ones that cry out in fear.
--If our souls become empty and we let hatred embark
mankind fades from existence, like tears in the dark.

We cry out for peace, but it never comes to past
We cry out for a war, with the world as its' cast.
We will cry once too often with our words of haste
We will then cry out for pity amid a nuclear waste!
--We are like the clouds, falling rain is our tears
so we turn from each other and hide from our fears.
--This ship of fools called earth, on which we embark
may just fade from existence, like tears in the dark.

           A Plea From The Damned

"Hear the falling tears as they flow from our eyes
See the world become barren, our tombstones in mark.
Hear a plea from the damn, a word from the wise
See our souls fade to black,
like so many tears in the dark..."

Powerful...tugging at hearts...will there be reactions to the actions?

Another perfect piece, and it's so refreshingly dark. I can't even decide what part I liked the most, because the whole write was a great read. Thanks for sharing. Scholar
