An Anology Of War Pt.1 Remembering Vietnam

By Malcholm Dark

                G.I. Joe

"I grew up during the sixties with a G. I. Joe doll
I grew up playing war games while awaiting my call.
G. I. Joe and I were champions of liberty
We fought for America's right to be free.
I owned one like every young war monger should
And killed our enemy just as often as we could.
In my front-yard we fought the Germans and Japanese
While in the backyard we held off those Vietnamese.
I hunted my enemies from yard to yard and door to door
Never submitting to fear or defeat, I was a pup of war.
Life seemed abundant in my youth 'neath that home-town sun
And playing war-games were more than adventures in fun!

Then manhood befell me, my dream was in sight
So I signed up for a war, I joined for a fight.
The jet took off skyward, Vietnam bound...
knowing then I had finally come into my own.
Little did I know while staring back down...
never again would I see the land I call home.

G. I. Joe, G. I Joe
A fighting man from head to toe
On the land, the sea or the air.
He will fight all day and then again at night
He will take on what's wrong and make it right.
He will handle any job no matter how hard
By fighting bad-guys who have invaded our yard.
Rest in peace Joe..."

             This Is Our Country

"They call us Charlie or dink, some call us gook
And we fight like the tiger or some hellish spook.
Vietnam is our country, ours to command
Go back to the west, America is your land.
You whore our women, our children die in vain
America is the evil, her soldiers bring pain.
We will fight you with guns, knives, stick or stone
Until we kill you out-right or send you back home.
We wait in the jungles, the Americans are beckoned
Attrition is our ally, our ways won't be reckoned.

--This is our country, ours do you hear
we will defend it to the last without a single tear.
--Vietnam is our country, you western idealist
it belongs to its' people,
                         you shall not have it..."
