Slipping Away--Remembering 911

By Malcholm Dark

Our faces reap the silence like a porcelain doll
We become focused upon a day our memories recall.
The hard, cold facts of reality which makes life unfair
A twist of fate, our friends are gone and we were there.
Confusion and anger now walk at our side
Scars that run deep, run deep down inside.
The embodied essence, visions of yesterday
Do we have control or are we slipping away?

--Jets flown into buildings, terror and tears,
thousands are missing, none have come home.
--Terrorists among us, visions and fears,
thousands were murdered, now we feel alone.

Now as we ponder those events while the days pass by
Rays of truth we cannot see, answers we know not why.
Are you having bad dreams, is your reality in touch
Can we cope with our problems, am I asking too much?
I have been standing strong since becoming a man
Now I find myself slipping and don't understand.
Will we search for more courage to make another day
Do we find ourselves slipping, are we slipping away?

--Our haunting memories, visions and fears,
killers among us shall be made to atone.
--Our haunting memories, remorse and tears,
our heroes and loved ones will never come home.

I think this describes the terror and confusion of that day perfectly. A very haunting tribute, for such a traumatic event, well done! Scholar
