A Snowflakes War Story

By TheFailedCaterpillar

I have a story to tell
of a wonderful place
where you can sit and sunbathe
next to a frozen lake
frozen, cold, colder
Where the people have little, appreciate much
where none fear getting older
and none of their history lost
This is their legend
a story read while awake
This is the legend
of the snowflake

We sat here, flew here, swam here
a tumbling, frosty, swarm
We descended upon the warmers
who's presence caused our forlorn
ness
but then we rejoice
as the loud cheerful voice
as children run out to play
We are here, yes at last
the teachers crack a smile
and decide to let out class
we come in groups
immense platoons
to help the sun
to 'brighten' your day
but we are lost
stay away!
we are to be looked at, not handled
and quickly our platoons begin to scramble
"Watch out! Open mouth at three o'clock!"
hundreds are lost
"Snow dancer coming our way!"
many more meet their demise
"We're almost to the ground!
So far unharmed-"
"SNOW ANGELS!"
We all scream as loud as we can

It's dark out
I'm alone, I don't see anyone else alive
I see around me, the bodies of my brothers
Am I the last snowflake still alive here?
I begin to panic as the sun peeks over the mountains
"I'm sorry brothers"
I say as I begin to move them aside so I may hide beneath.
Just as I get through all my laborous work
Irony speeds my way, with a grinding sound,
accompanied by bright light comes my way and
I am crushed lifeless, as a snowplow throws me aside.
