MORTALITY

By lovechild

i've got the power of speech,
but there's no one i can reach;
i've got a worm on a leash...
maybe i can teach myself
to love it.
i've got a slip-knot rope
with a grip that chokes
and i can't cope-
life's a joke,
and i'm above it.

i've got a freezer full of meat;
when i need to feed, i eat.
i've got bloodstains on my sheets,
for i'm a woman.
i've got a child in a tomb
and an empty womb;
the stars, the moon look down
and i am doomed
for being human...
