Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall: I Need You

By thelostmessenger

I need you.
In the winter,
when frost has sealed the solid ground,
and we lie awake,
you are my heat.
We are the fire.
When chills run down my spine
they're from your fingers,
not the chilly air.
Moonlight radiates
through the foggy window
across the room,
and all I see are your eyes.
Icey like the rivers,
piercing through my soul.
You are my warmth,
the light shining through
the flakes and glimmers of snow
freefalling from an everlasting sky.
I need you.

I need you
in the spring,
when the glaciers of winter melt
and our fingers are laced together
while we walk in the growing grass.
When the soft blue sky
makes clouds of gray,
and we stand on the sidewalk,
your kisses as gentle
as the rain rushing down our backs.
And in the night
when the showers persists,
quenching the thirsty Earth,
we lie awake,
listening to the pitter-patter
on the rooftops
and off the drain pipes.
I need you.

I need you
in the summer time,
when the sun beats down
on your friendly face.
When we elope
across the field to the river,
stripping one another
of these clothe confinements,
and revealing ourselves.
When the thunder roars
throughout the night
and you wrap your arms around me,
our faces lit by every lightning bolt.
I need you.

I need you
in the autumn,
when the leaves brush
across the cooling soil.
When I happily inhabit
your sweatshirt,
and we sheild one another
from the breeze.
We stay up late at night,
turn on the television,
and still you give yourself to me.
When you conform to my body,
sheltered from the bitter wind,
and the snow thats slowly approaching,
I need you.

I loved this, and the changing of the seasons. I love autumn. I really enjoyed what you wrote about spring though... that was fantastic.

Feeling such a need, constant and ever strong, is as weakening as it is amazing. Fulfilling this need can for most people fulfill a life. Though, I'm just speaking from my perspective. As for the piece, I loved it. And I would spare you a favorite, as I tell so many these days... but I have none left.
