Paper Mask//Mirrored Lies
By Err0r
I wear this mask
Made of a thick paste
Called Paper Mache
Because I need the hiding spot
To protect my
Vulnerability
I wear this mask
With one side painted Gold
And the other Painted White.
Because I need the balance
To Protect My
Sanity
I wear this mask
With the eyes sewn Shut
And the mouth torn Open
Because sometimes
I need to see with my heart
And Love With My Lips...
But Most Of All
I wear this mask
With the pretty colors
And the crossed out eyes
So That When I Wake Up
And Look In The Mirror
Each. And. Every. Day.
I Don't Have To See
What's being covered up...

Masks may be terrible, but if you give someone a mask, they can be who they truly are, even if it's at the expense of being able to look themselves in the eye. Interesting write.

i think you write with a quill ripped from an angel's wings. this piece reminds me of this thing i read one time. i think it's called My Paintbrush. if i remember correct it had the same idea of covering up to hide. excellence.

I relate to this all too well. And it is sad, indeed. But you've expressed it with elegance. I like the flow and the semi-repetitive nature. This was well put together and very well written. Good job, hon. Keep a smile under that mask for me, k? --Jes

I never come out of my shell, without wearing my mask, so I can relate. Sorry I missed this when first posted. ^V^

This reminds me of make-up, and how some of my friends felt naked without wearing tons of it. They'd say it was as if they went into the day without their mask...

my god...."Because sometimes/I need to see with my heart/And Love With My Lips"...and those last 5 lines...god, you took me into your world with this, and left me bleeding all the lies I've been covering up myself lately. Excellent lovely. ~*Beth*~

thats harsh. i think you're making the mask so horrific and i don't think the appearance beneath it even graces the level of ugliness you may look at as your mask every day....

you shouldn't learn to love any other face than your own...it will be there for the rest of your life...don't damage the house you were given as a gift or the little girl inside...

Wow, ErrOr I really like this, reminds me of an old poem I wrote. . .The simplistic descriptions of the mask my imagination just run on what your mask would look like. . .I quite enjoyed it ^.^

Damn, this is good. I like end. I also like eyes sewn shut, and mouths torn open, so I may be biased. Kick ass write though.

I love the descriptions here. My mask doesn't look like yours but I still wear it quite often!
