People Of The Sun Dance

By Malcholm Dark

Lightning painting the dark with white
As thunder shakes with all its' might.

Rain like tear drops come falling down
Clouds so low they speak to the ground.

Wolves call out the covered moonlight
A holy man takes in the night.

Ancestral spirits here are found
Sun dance ritual, hear the sound.

He feels the ceremonial drum
Visions from Wakan Tanka to come.

"Protect our land, this land so full."
So said the one called Sitting Bull.

Events foretold...

The white mans' army comes to call
And Custer and his men shall fall.

Come tomorrow the Sioux stand tall
But in the end they lose it all.

Ah Custer's Last Stand, one of my favorite moments in history. The thunder, lightning, rain, clouds, and the wolves. Such vivid descriptions, truly felt like an ancient power was amassing itself for battle. Write on my friend. Scholar
