  • "sigh. Your close reading and erudite references always make me smile. I'm impressed you remembered to come back, as well. Thank you... "

  • "ah, solomon's journey... nothing new under the sun... I'm not much of a reader of Ecclesiastes or any other portion of the Torah, but I find it an interesting allusion... given that the words were upon the backs and making new meanings that were not before.... the burden of meaning, maybe... the notion of agape being separated from the Idol, as it were, freed to be adrift among us, maybe, is quite the contemporary theological development, you might enjoy Jean Luc Marion, _God Without Being_ where he makes much of such a metaethical position, not unlike Levinas in _Of God Who Comes to Mind_ thanks for the pensive exploration of the word... and *wherever* meaning may reside. *bows*"

  • "This poem was just fantastic, as though there were other qualities ruled out. So I'll say it was simply fantastic, but then it was far from simple. You point is well taken; now you can have it back dear lady and thanks for the loaner, cheers!"

  • "...the advice of Kohelet is simple. enjoy the gifts we've been given in life: eating, drinking, sex, to name a few. excellent write..."

  • "A little bit esoteric, but this is an intellectual piece.I see the nihilism in Kohelet...and albeit the somewhat cryptic nature of the piece, it has it's own inherent value.Well written."

  • "I have to look up your person of interest, but I can recognize some interesting notions, the separation of agape, the independence of such, as if witnessed in the face of the other... levinas comes to mind, and also martin buber, who wrote a book called 'I and Thou', phenomenology... an interesting write, I have to come back and fully consider it when I'm more coherent. Thank you, always."

  • ""For I deem that the true disciple of philosophy is likely to be misunderstood by other men; they do not perceive that he is ever pursuing death and dying; and if this is true, why, having had the desire of death all his life long, should he repine at the arrival of that which he has been always pursuing and desiring?" Phaedo, 64a, Jowett. Seems to be a long tradition in so many theologies that the enlightened one lived life detached, as if dead, or dismissed from the world... and come to know death before dying... is it any wonder Jesus had to die and un-die, as it was written before him... is that a punch-line I can unknow? Certainly not a doctrine I can... unbelieve... which must be different from disbelieving.... as unliving differs from dying, maybe. *raises glass* "

  • "un-living rather than dying... the undoing of dying: that which is undeniably done before its own doing. Reversing the lineage. Un-drinking the drunk, maybe, but never un-burning the smoked. *twitches* thanks for the unbelievable ... now I cannot unthink the thought. :) all the best to you."

  • "to some extent, I think it's age that brings pessimism... but... that technology thing, I think it's driven by economy, profit; there is a good article by Walter Benjamin on effect of technology on art... and, of course, there is the seminal work of The Dialectic of Enlightenment, by horkheimer and Adorno that theorizes the 'culture industry'... I still remain optimistic, however... :) thanks for the thoughts."
