Fading Away

By wandering druid

When I sit alone under the shade
Watching all around me slowly fade
I beg and pray for one last sight
Before vision goes as black as night

Please don't let me fade
Lest my corpse be calmly laid
Six feet beneath your memories
That slowly drift away...

Swirling , turning in that dark
As every winging fear finds its mark
Only to open up my eyes
When stars illuminate the skies
Dancing spirits twirl in play
Beckoning me to join the fray
Shades of wisdom brush the mind
To point at the space between the lines

But no, no joy is meant to last
No matter what enchantments are cast
At last the visions dim
To return and burn in a world so grim

Will not the faerie sing of things
That will wreathe me in this breaking dream
Bind the cracks that slowly spread
To return me to that drab grey dread

No, please don't let them fade
Lest that dream's corpse be calmly laid
Six feet beneath my memories
That slowly drift away...
