The Green of Home

By nur hidayah

mr leaf-cutter man weans
trims the pulsing wild green dreams
into rigid bits of unlit
chlorophyll knits, uniform
norm, unmoving in storms
they stand in line dazed, grave
brave.

mutilated, maimed
a thousand same
tamed unnamed.

mr leaf cutter-man sings
to Krishna to divine kings and
cries into his green flecked beard
unheard, the shepherd
of fetus dreams herded to
the slaughterhouse to be doused
killed stilled healed
concealed.

bangladeshi brothers dance!
just once in sun swallowed months
of no rain and grass stains
numbing pain, unseen chains
remember
rasgulla, masala, paratha!
chapatti, biryani, torkari
mmm
chocolate skin swathed in saris...
hot feet on cold temple floors
dancing devotion through encores
this is our birthright
warm nights
bright smiles
clap and stomp like thunder
thumping jumping raging

stop.

mr leaf-cutter man cuts
he carves his own casket
weeps as he snips
pulsing wild green dreams
into cuboids, spheroids
a routine shape rape
he trudged among the

mutilated, maimed
a thousand same
tamed unnamed.

and yet another great piece of work. its a new type of poetry style coming from you in a way i guess. the rhyming sudden one word rhythmic flow. i can picture mr grass cutter man very well and get what you mean.

  • A former member wrote: This is incredible. The birthright of the wild and untamed. If only I lived as you, and I would feel this completely. Wonderful.
