downtown carols ring out (edited)

By alaskanamber

lights twinkle on all the houses
stores all decorated in october
constant reminders of my faith and family lost long ago
i scorn those bustling shoppers window gawkers
the spirit of the devil is deep in me
that wants to steal your holiday cheer
wipe that commercial smile from your face
replant the tree you've torn from it's home
throw that damned bell into the bottom of the sea
go to hell personal shoppers secret santas
jesus died on the cross for our sins
so lets celebrate and eat candy canes
sing carols of greediness and loneliness
government stole merry christmas in god we trust
from our schools and our childrens hearts
what is left but the slowly dying morals of our society
so i burn your gift wrap ribbons bows
destroy your festive wasteful feast
i have no father mother
no son daughter
home for the holidays
a joke as i hold my tin cup
don't look into my eyes as you drop your quarter in
hear the tink of it's empty bottom echoing my soul
behind my starving countenance
is the demon that controls me compels me
the demon who will follow you home
slit your families throats under your precious tree
eat santas milk and cookies
blood on my hands lightness in my heart
never looking back
