Just Another Day

By A Burning God

Just Another Day

I picture myself at the head of an army,
Looking onward into the valley,
Dark, for the star in the sky has just set.

In the light of the moons, we ride to another town,
Another place to destroy and take over
For the fate of everyone, including the general, is at stake
Because if all seventeen worlds aren’t under my command,
Then all will perish
Because the unseen foe will defeat me

I won’t let him defeat me
He hides in the shadows
In the air
In the enemies,
In me
And I will not lose because of him.

My determination is unmatched,
My men (and some women) will agree
For you see,
None of my people will oppose me,
For they understand the consequences of their inaction,
And they know the price for getting in the way: death

Every day, we take over thousands of towns,
Varying in size,
Some the size of Manhattan
Some the size of California
Each ruler dying at my feet,
Trying to keep their kingdoms from me,
Ten worlds under my control,
Twenty thousand towns,
Millions of people,
All mine to command, to rule.

With each battle,
I turn the town into ruin,
Burning it down with my power,
My men pillaging, raping as they please,
Taking whatever they want.
I’m looking for only three things:
Killing the King,
Taking the King’s house,
And taking the town

Only after taking the tenth world do I wake,
Realizing what I may have to do.
Once I take over all the planets,
This universe rest in peace
For I will not let my people suffer
They will prosper
For I am their king,
Their general
And their god.
