Strange Sanctuary

By Temerity

Save me the putrid stench of life
This realm with all its futile strife
Where love is pain & hardens hearts
And everything ends before it starts

Sorrow manifests in whimpers & cries
Anger & rage like a fist in the eye
Fears abound in gasps & screams
As Darkness hides mysteries of unseen things

Insidious lies we are taught
Infecting our minds as we rot
Mundane conventions I abhor
Knowing there is something more...

The depth of your stare, a cold chasm
Behind weary orbs lurks the phantasm
Enter the blackness, the tactile void
Consumes every essence, all logic destroyed

Nullified, invalid thoughts derange,...
Yet, I find familiar comfort in the strange
No fear, no sorrow, no resistence at all
The strange sanctuary of abysmal free-fall

For all that I've learned, I know nothing
For all that I've gained I have nothing
For all I've become, I am nothing
For all I desire, I want nothing ...more.

"Mundane conventions I abhor" This line said it all for me. Tight structure and fantastically written.
